New Construction Communities in Verona, WI: 7 Neighborhoods Worth a Look
New Construction Communities in Verona, WI: 7 Neighborhoods Worth a Look
From conservancy-wrapped master plans to custom homes on larger lots, here's where new homes are going up in Verona.
Verona has several active new-construction communities, including Whispering Coves, Ardent Glen, Kettle Creek North, Cathedral Point, Scenic Ridge, Hometown Grove, and Cross Country Heights. Builders range from production names like Veridian Homes and Tim O'Brien Homes to custom builders, with homes spanning the mid-$400s into $1M-plus for custom estates.
Verona is one of Dane County's fastest-growing communities, fueled in large part by Epic Systems and easy access to Madison's west side. That growth has made it a hotbed for new construction, with everything from twin homes to custom estates going up across town. Here are seven active new-construction communities worth knowing: what they're like, who builds there, and the kind of buyer each one fits.
1 Whispering Coves
One of Verona's largest master-planned communities, Whispering Coves spans roughly 170 acres west of County Highway M and south of County Highway PD. The plan calls for 200-plus traditional single-family lots, condominium-style units, and more than 43 acres of open space, a natural conservancy, playgrounds, multi-use trails, and pocket parks. It's minutes from Epic, Fitchburg, and the west side of Madison.
2 Ardent Glen
Ardent Glen has been one of Verona's most active new-build neighborhoods, with a steady stream of recent closings. Veridian offers a deep menu of ready-to-build plans across a range of lot sizes, including both single-family and twin-home (duplex-style) sites, plus a large neighborhood park. The variety of product makes it one of the more flexible communities for different budgets.
3 Kettle Creek North
On Verona's north side, north of Cross Country Road and west of Highway M, Kettle Creek North is the area's premium enclave. Buyers can build semi-custom or fully custom on larger lots, many backing to open grassy areas or a pond. It's an easy reach to the Verona Public Library, Fireman's Park, Epic, and downtown Madison.
4 Cathedral Point
A larger, established Veridian neighborhood on the southern edge of Verona just off Highway 151, Cathedral Point pairs open floor plans and energy-efficient designs with walkable streets and neighborhood parks. Because it's more built-out, you'll often find a mix of newer construction and recent resales here.
5 Scenic Ridge
One of Verona's newer neighborhoods, Scenic Ridge offers a wide range of modern designs: prairie/craftsman, transitional, and ranch plans, many with three-car garages. Interiors lean toward open great rooms, vaulted ceilings, and well-appointed kitchens. The architectural variety gives the streetscape a custom feel.
6 Hometown Grove
A newer single-family community that rounds out Verona's new-construction options. Like several Verona neighborhoods, it's set up to welcome a range of buyers and commonly accepts VA financing, worth flagging for veterans and active-duty buyers using their entitlement.
7 Cross Country Heights
Tucked into the same north-side pocket as Kettle Creek, Cross Country Heights offers single-family homes with convenient access to Verona's parks, library, and the Epic corridor. It's a quieter option for buyers who want to be near the north-side amenities without the premium-enclave price ceiling.
How to choose, and protect yourself
Buying new construction is different from buying a resale. A few things that matter in Verona:
- Use your own agent. The on-site sales rep represents the builder. Having your own representation costs you nothing in most cases and matters during contract and walk-through.
- Read the builder contract carefully. Builder purchase agreements differ from the standard WB-11 resale offer, deadlines, allowances, and contingencies are not the same.
- Still get an inspection. New doesn't mean flawless. A pre-drywall and final inspection can catch issues early.
- Factor in timing. Build timelines, lot premiums, and finish allowances all affect your true all-in cost.
